About Us

The Immigration and Consular Office at the Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago is responsible for the issuance of passports and visas. Applications for the renunciation and restoration of citizenship are also accepted. The Office is also responsible for conducting interviews of Trinidad and Tobago nationals detained abroad to determine T&T citizenship prior to deportation to Trinidad and Tobago. Other Consular functions include Legalization, verification of life certificates as well as documentation for the repatriation of human remains.

Please note that citizens who live on the West Coast and require new machine readable passports are serviced through scheduled visits every two months. Those wishing appointments for Washington or California must call the Embassy at 202-467-6490 to schedule a date and time for an appointment. All calls are to be made within one month of the requested appointment date. In cases where we are unable to take your call and you fall within our jurisdiction, you are asked to leave a clear message giving your name and telephone number your call will be returned. A preliminary interview will be conducted and an appointment date and time will be scheduled.
