ART OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO AND LIVE STEELPAN MUSIC FOR
AROUND THE WORLD OPEN HOUSE ON

Art and music enthusiasts can look forward to live steelpan music, displays of works of art of several of Trinidad and Tobago’s renowned artists and a sampling of the delicacies of Trinidad and Tobago, from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 17th May, 2008 when the Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago participates in Passport DC’s “Around the World Open House”.
The excitement starts on Monday 12th May, when the Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago opens with the “Art of Trinidad and Tobago”, featuring the work of David Boothman, Nina Squires, Kendrick Smith, Wilcox Morris, Charles Reveillac and several other leading artists. The exhibition runs until May 23rd.
The highlight of the week takes place on Saturday 17th May, when visitors to the Embassy will have an opportunity to meet with artists, enjoy live steelpan music by Pace Steel Orchestra and sample the culinary delights of Trinidad and Tobago.
Admission is FREE. The venue for the Art of Exhibition and the Around World Open House is the Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago, 1708 Massachusetts Avenue, Washington DC 20036.
Passport DC is organized by “Cultural Tourism DC”, a non-profit coalition of 185 arts, heritage, cultural and community organizations throughout Washington DC, with partners in tourism, hospitality and government. The key purpose of Cultural Tourism DC is to promote culture and heritage as a tool for economic development. Passport DC is Cultural Tourism DC’s first embassy celebration, designed to encourage residents and visitors in Washington DC to sample authentic performances, exhibitions, lectures, film and cuisine from around the world.
